AIR PEACE SET TO MAKE NIGERIA AVIATION PROUD

The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority ( NCAA), On Monday issued an Air Operators’ Certificate (AOC), to a new entrant : Air Peace after it met all the statutory requirement to run scheduled operations .This is coming just as the regulator said it would not hesitate to ground airlines owing workers salaries .
The NCAA also said it now has powers to sack any staff of any airline that is involved in dangerous operations Dangerous operations involves any act that constitutes threat to safety, be they pilots and aircraft engineers .
With the issuance of the air operators certificate, Air Peace would join other airlines for domestic flight operations . The issuance of AOC to Air Peace, brings to three the number of new airlines that the NCAA has issued licenses.
Speaking at the event, the acting director general of NCAA, Engineer Benedict Adeyileka explained that the airlines was given the licence after its management team met all the requirements in record time ahead of commencement of operations.
He said the airline demonstrated capacity with its team of indigenous professionals , which have been well trained to run the business.
He urged Air Peace to ensure it adheres to all safety and technical regulations to run a successful airline, as the NCAA will not hesitate to sanction airlines that violate safety regulations.
He said : ” The NCAA now has power to sack people in any airline, if the staff is dangerous to safety . Whether they are pilots, engineers,we would pull them out. NCAA will go after airlines that are not doing well. That is our commitment to safety.”
Adeyileka said the NCAA was impressed with the quality of aircraft, and spare parts that it has acquired ahead of the commencement of operations .
He urged Air Peace to ensure issues of staff training , aircraft maintenance and crew matters are settled to achieve the growth and development of the industry .
He said the reason why NCAA would go after errant operators is to ensure safety of operations .
He described the foundation laid by Air Peace as very solid, with structures put in place for the maintenance of its aircraft and the spares it has already procured .
In his remarks after signing for the air operators ‘ certificate , the chairman of Air Peace, Mr Allen Onyema assured that the carrier is set to change the face of air travel, with the seven aircraft it has acquired ahead of operations .
Onyema said the airline was not established to make money, but to create jobs for teeming indigenous professionals .
He assured that Air Peace is committed to safety, even as it would not defer the maintenance of its aircraft .
Oyema said the airline would continue to invest more in Nigerian pilots and aircraft engineers to reduce capital flight .He spoke of plans to train more professionals , including pilots and aircraft engineers to attain global certification .
The chairman urged Nigerian operators to redeem their image by paying up loans they have secured from commercial banks, so that new entrants could leverage on that .
Onyema said Air Peace would bridge the gap in pilots and engineers unemployment by training younger professionals to acquire experience on the job.
He urged fuel marketers and other vendors to close ranks with operators to make aviation fuel available
Onyema said the airline will deepen local content to grow the sector .
